CHEFS Gala 2019 was a great success. Our 15th annual fundraiser was held on May 2, 2019 at Bespoke in the Westfield San Francisco Centre. The generous participation of the 420 attendees enabled us to raise nearly $275,000 for ECS programming and to expand economic opportunities for more students in the CHEFS (Conquering Homelessness through Employment in Food Services) Program.

This year, 21 fantastic Bay Area restaurants, wineries, and breweries shared delicious bites, desserts, and beverages. The program was emceed by internationally acclaimed Master Chef and cookbook author Martin Yan. Speakers Senator Scott Wiener, Supervisor Matt Haney and SF Director of Homelessness and Supportive Housing Jeff Kositsky recognized ECS, our mission for the people of San Francisco, and the leadership of Executive Director Beth Stokes.

The auction was led by Emmy Award-winning radio/TV host Liam Mayclem. We premiered a new video, “David’s Story,” about CHEFS graduate David Breece who went from homelessness to employment as a cook for Project Open Hand.
