Aging and Disability Resource Center

The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Episcopal Community Services provides seniors (aged 60 and older) and young adults with disabilities (aged 18-59) free information, referral and assistance on benefits and other concerns. With Outstations throughout San Francisco, the ADRC Information and Assistance Specialists (IAS) provide a wide range of services in English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tagalog, and Russian.

ECS partners with Episcopal Senior Communities, which promotes the intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual well-being of seniors. Both organizations embrace the concept of working together to avoid duplication of services while ensuring the senior population in San Francisco is well served.

The ADRC provides the seniors and young adults with disabilities with information, referral, and assistance in the following areas:

• Housing opportunities
• Nutrition and congregate meals
• Dental & medical care
• In-Home Supportive Services
• Benefits
• Case management services
• Employment & Training
• Medicare’s low income assistance programs (e.g. ExtraHelp for part D, Medicare savings program for part B & A)
• Medicare counseling and advocacy (in partnership with HICAP)
• Savings in utilities (e.g. Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) for PG&E bills)
• Transportation (Clipper, Paratransit, MapVan)
• Assistance with filling out paperwork, applications, and forms
• Translation services (written and verbal translations for agencies and consumers in Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog )
• Calfresh
• And many others

With funding from The Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS), the ADRC works closely with the DAAS Integrated Intake Unit, the DAAS Community Partnerships, and other community organizations to provide more efficient information and referral services to the residents of San Francisco.

ADRC Volunteer Opportunities

Bilingual Volunteers
The ADRC is looking for individuals interested in being trained to support the Information and Assistance Specialists (IAS) with client intakes, interviews, translations, resources, referrals, assistance, outreach, and resource fairs.

Administrative Volunteers
The ADRC is looking for organized, self-motivated individuals who can help with administrative duties at the Canon Kip Senior Center site. Responsibilities may include: Support with outreach and resource fairs, organizing resources and materials, data entry, filing, client intakes and initial interviews.
