From our beginnings in the basement of Grace Cathedral, local parishes have been crucial in helping us provide services to those most vulnerable in our community. Below are ways your parish or faith-based group can become involved:

Personal Hygiene Drive
Our shelter residents are always in need of toothbrushes, soap, socks, shampoo and other toiletries. Many of our clients enter the shelters without any of these basic hygiene items. Host a drive in your parish for one or all of these items.

Bereavement Ceremonies
Help residents cope with the loss of a neighbor by facilitating small memorial ceremonies at our various sites. Ceremonies are informal and non-denominational in nature. Email mhasick@ecs-sf.org to be added to our on-call list.

Bingo Night at the Shelter
Participate in a Bingo night at our Next Door Shelter (1001 Polk St.) on Thursday's at 8:30 - 9:30 pm.

Monthly Senior Center Celebration
Once a month our Canon Kip Senior Center celebrates each senior with a birthday that month. Volunteers help make birthday cards and serve lunch to the seniors. The celebration is the 3rd Saturday of every month from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm.

Invite Us to Speak
Interested in learning more about homelessness in San Francisco? Invite us to speak during a service or coffee hour. Educate your parish on the solutions to homelessness in San Francisco and offer them ways to get involved.

Holiday Volunteer Groups
Spread holiday cheer throughout our eleven sites by serving meals, singing carols, or hosting a giving tree. The holiday season can be a challenging time for our residents and sharing your time and friendship can make all the difference.
